Social Impact

Raising awareness of EU rights and values leads to a significant impact and project outcomes, on a practical and perceptual level.

Short term:

  • Through better knowledge of EU rights, the elderly have the opportunity to make  more efficient and systematic use of health care services.
  • Promoting the value of equality, including gender equality through equal participation of women in training activities. Increasing women’s autonomy to utilize their European rights in remote rural  areas, reducing dependence on men for their access to health care  services.
  • Impact on young people through the intergenerational approach, where during their contact with the elderly and participation in the project’s actions, they will be aware of the rights, and personal experiences of the elderly, in order to emerge the necessary care and respect without stereotypes and discrimination, as defined by EU values

Medium term :

  • The exchange of best practices will benefit the civil society organizations and their beneficiaries, through the acquisition of knowledge about health care services and their more effective use in a multiple environment.
  • Raising awareness of public opinion and promoting a culture with a European perspective in the field of Civil Society, with greater participation of citizens in relative actions.
  • Reduction of “self-ageism” which mean that they have  a greater interest of the elderly in their personal health and, by extension, more frequent visits to doctors.

Long term:

  • Reducing “ageism” phenomenon, practically with better care and reduced discrimination against the elderly, by relatives or health professionals, by promoting EU rights and values.
  • Improving attitudes and perceptions about the EU’s promotion of the elderly rights.
  • Social impact on the wider environment of the participants through the dissemination of information for the long-term sustainability of the project.
