NCDs are the result of unhealthy lifestyles, e.g. tobacco use, physical inactivity, unhealthy diets and use of alcohol, leading to metabolic and physiological changes. In European countries, NCDs are responsible for an enormous part of the burden that public health systems in the Member States are facing. The increasing rates of deaths related to NCDs in Europe are concerning, but although running rampant, the complex health issues caused by NCDs can be tackled, if we improve prevention measures and promote health.<\/p>\n<p>Healthy diets are a key aspect of our lifestyle, and can help tackling the rise of NCDs.\u00a0A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats\u00a0is essential for our overall health, and\u00a0reduces the risk of chronic illnesses.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Preventia project aims to\u00a0decrease the spreading of NCDs across the EU,\u00a0while reducing health inequalities and fostering\u00a0cooperation and exchanges between the EU Member States.<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30563 size-full aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/eeke.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/\u0395\u03b9\u03ba\u03cc\u03bd\u03b12.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"554\" height=\"416\" srcset=\"https:\/\/eeke.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/\u0395\u03b9\u03ba\u03cc\u03bd\u03b12.png 554w, https:\/\/eeke.gr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/\u0395\u03b9\u03ba\u03cc\u03bd\u03b12-300x225.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><em>Stay tuned for news about the consortium and developments from the project<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SAFE, LCI, EEKE, CEIP, Promote Ukraine, U.DI.CON, ADOC<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Over the past two years, through partnerships with schools, migration centres, NGOs and medical institutions, we have been delivering targeted programmes to promote health equity and disease prevention. Highlights include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Training for schools in disadvantaged areas. Developing and delivering educational materials, with successful rollouts in Greece, Croatia, and Italy;<\/li>\n<li>Community-based culinary workshops engaging migrants in Greece, Italy and Croatia to promote healthy eating and cultural integration.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, we conducted an assessment of NCD policies in partner countries. The findings will inform a forthcoming policy brief and public health guidelines, ensuring evidence-based recommendations for future actions.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, for consumer empowerment,\u00a0SAFE launched BiteWatch\u00ae, a free mobile phone application to make informed food choices.
