The seminar is part of\u00a0GNCHR&#8217;s actions to strengthen human rights education and cultivate a broader culture of respect for human rights.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoNormal\">The Union of Working Consumers of Greece (EEKE) presented relevant data from its initiatives addressing:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoListParagraphCxSpFirst\">1.<span class=\"x_1109350763font\"><span class=\"x_1109350763size\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>The surge in food prices and essential household needs in Greece,<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\">2.<span class=\"x_1109350763font\"><span class=\"x_1109350763size\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Outcomes from its activities concerning debt restructuring of non-performing loans and the protection of primary residences and individuals\u2019 property, as well as proposals submitted to public discourse aimed at mitigating inflation and the housing crisis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\">3.<span class=\"x_1109350763font\"><span class=\"x_1109350763size\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Its actions to address the increase in food prices and basic needs of Greek households, the results of its actions to regulate non-performing debts and protect the primary residence and property of individuals, as well as the proposals it has put forward in the public debate to address the housing shortage and crisis.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\">4.<span class=\"x_1109350763font\"><span class=\"x_1109350763size\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>In addition, new vulnerability criteria resulting from the experience of managing vulnerable populations were presented for the following groups: a) Digitally illiterate elderly citizens and b) Households that do not fully service their credit debts (Banks, AADE, EFKA etc.).<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoListParagraphCxSpLast\">5.<span class=\"x_1109350763font\"><span class=\"x_1109350763size\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Access to quality food and access to quality and affordable housing are limited, under the pressure of low wages and the ever-increasing cost of living. Everyone has the right to adequate remuneration and housing that ensure a decent standard of living for themselves and their families.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoNormal\">The speakers and their interventions:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoNormal\"><b>\u2022 Panos Tsakloglou<\/b>, Professor at the\u00a0<b>Department of International and European Economic Studies of the Athens University of Economics<\/b>, on the topic:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoNormal\"><b>\u201cConsumer Price Index and Wages. What do the available data show\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoNormal\"><b>\u2022 Marianella Kloka,<\/b>\u00a0President of the\u00a0<b>Board of the Hellenic Network for the Fight against Poverty,<\/b>\u00a0on the topic:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoNormal\"><b>\u201cAnnual Report on Poverty in Greece: Findings, Conclusions and Policy Recommendations\u201d.<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoNormal\"><b>\u2022 Anastasia Chatzipavlou<\/b>, Director of the Union of Working Consumers of Greece (EEKE), on the topic:<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_1299192778ydp84a8ca1cMsoNormal\">\u201cThe role of consumer associations.
