The Union of Working Consumers of Greece, in cooperation with social partners, carries out actions of social solidarity such as, food and medicine collection, social tutoring lessons, to assist students in their school duties, and actions to assist earthquake and flood victims, thus actively supporting vulnerable consumers.<\/p>

  • Social Tutoring Lessons<\/u><\/strong>: This action consists of finding and coordinating teachers and professors, pensioners, unemployed persons and workers who wish to volunteer and provide free lessons (Literature, Physics, Math, English, Business Management etc.) to junior and senior high school students with low family income who cannot cover the cost of tutoring lessons (\u201cfrontistiria\u201d). The leading Local Branch of Nafpaktia & Dorida opened during the 2012-2013 school year and provides Social Tutoring Lessons annually, in cooperation with the First Hellenic Union of Secondary Education Teachers of Aitoloakarnania. This action has proved to be successful since every year students qualify for the next grade while most of the third grade senior high school students get admitted to tertiary education (Higher and Technical Education Institutions)<\/li><\/ul>
    • Food Collection<\/u><\/strong>: Since 2010, food and basic commodities are collected and distributed regularly to economically vulnerable groups (unemployed, low-paid workers, low-income pensioners, extended unemployed families, immigrants, earthquake and war victims etc.) by the Local branches of the Union of Working Consumers of Greece in cooperation with the relevant Working Centers and local partners and organizations<\/li><\/ul>
      • Medicine Collection<\/u><\/strong>: Cooperation between Local Branches and Local Partners for the collection and delivery of pharmaceuticals to the local Social Clinics<\/li><\/ul>
        • Offset & Environment<\/u><\/strong>: Local Branches in cooperation with Environmental organizations and local partners try to promote environmental protection in the best possible way and contribute to a solution to a sensitive social problem of our time namely heating and the shortage of writing materials (A4 paper) in Schools, by regularly collecting and recycling cooking oil from households, with offsets for schools<\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
