EEKE was invited and participated as a stakeholder in the project “National Strategy for Financial Literacy in Greece” of the General Secretariat of the Financial Sector and Private Debt Management of the Ministry of National Economy and Finance in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the European Commission (DG REFORM).
As a result of this collaboration, the educational actions of EEKE on Financial Literacy and the provision of advisory and or mentoring support to over-indebted households will be included in the stakeholders’ initiatives for the development of the National Strategy for Financial Literacy in Greece and will be highlighted in the relevant OECD report.
The Report mentions EEKE and its related actions as prototypes. The monitoring outcomes, for counting the financial claims and disputes support actions for over -indebted consumers and the relevant beneficial social impact, received very positive evaluations.
The “Greek National Financial Literacy Strategy ” was presented in a event in Athens Greece in the presence of high level senior government officials, the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Structural Reform (DG Reform) and the OECD.
About the project
The project success is the cooperative result between the OECD (as a support provider) and the Greek General Secretariat of the Financial Sector and Private Debt Management of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of Greece, and implemented with the support of the European Commission in the framework of the Technical Support Instrument (TSI ) Program and in collaboration with the European Commission’s Directorate General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM). The OECD is implementing partner of the project.
The National Strategy for Financial Literacy in Greece provides guidance to national agencies involved in financial education in Greece for the duration of five from its establishment. The proposal for a national strategy was developed through an evidence-based consultative approach and was designed in accordance with the OECD Financial Literacy Recommendation.
