Educational material Dissemination and Impact measurement
The objective of the project is to disseminate the educational program Tackling Adolescent Obesity (TAO) in schools located in disadvantaged areas of Greece, orphanages and adolescent structures through the training of educators, who in turn will teach the project material TAO to the students. The project concludes with the evaluation of action results which will be carried out by the beneficiaries themselves.
ΤΑΟ strategic plan
Our main objective is to create a comprehensive nutrition training for teenagers, which will address nutrition fundamentals, physical activities, eating disorders, discrimination and bullying as well as health risks related to unhealthy nutrition and behaviours.
The project is divided into four main steps:
Step 1: : Creation of three educational materials supporting the training – a Student handbook, a teacher handbook, and a website.
Step 2: Testing of the nutrition training and the corresponding learning materials in some classes at the three partner schools.
Step 3: Last adjustments tot he learning materials and the training in general before the official launch of the training for all classes at the partner schools.
Step 4: Dissemination of the training to as many schools across Europe as possible.
Through this programme, SAFE and its partners intend to develop a multidisciplinary training to provide adolescents with basic nutritional and behavioural knowledge as well as to promote inclusion in the school environment. Once the training is created, the goal is to disseminate it as widely as possible across Europe.
The TAO project addresses three priorities:
- Social inclusion: we wish to create a more inclusive school environment towards adolescents living with overweight or obesity
- Open education and innovative practices in a digital era: this website is intended to be used as an educational material supporting the training
- School education by strengthening the profile(s) of the teaching profession: we wish to provide teachers with tools and guidelines to help their students taking heed of their body and mind as well as to create a more inclusive school environment.
