The Bronze award in the category “Extraversion, Educational Visits & Experiential Learning in Public Primary Education” was won by the Union of Working Consumers of Greece-EEKE and the 1st Primary School of Dionysos at the Education Leaders Awards for the student canteen – children’s entrepreneurship, connection with the labor market and society, organized for the ninth consecutive year by Boussias Communications.
The Union of Working Consumers of Greece -EEKE, in collaboration with the 1st Dionysos Primary School and the help of its teachers and the cooperating director, Dr. Anastasia Katsougri, implemented an innovative experiential project targeted at children’s eating habits and the prevention of childhood obesity
As part of the project, the students learned to buy the raw materials, prepare adequate meals, pack them and manage the finances of their own “business” by choosing the right and healthy foods.
From the collected income for the student canteen, students procured the raw materials for healthy food and covered the travel and food cost for their daily excursion.
The award was received by the Director of the 1st Dionysos Primary School, Dr. Anastasia Katsougri as liaison officer, along with all other teachers who contributed. In their statement emphasized that “this award came as a reward for our vision for education, our efforts and the goal among others to develop student’s soft skills. In addition to changing the eating habits of our students, we tried to cultivate the culture of the “right consumer”. In the context of this effort, the Union of Working Consumers of Greece -EEKE is helping us, and we thank them for all that.”
The Education Leaders Awards highlighted for the 9th consecutive year the range of educational units and activities that stood up from every level and region of the educational community of Greece. The purpose of the awards is to lift and upgrade the educational experience, both for the students and for the teachers in the new digital era and to highlight the innovative actions of all the schools in Greece, Public and Private.
