The Union of Working Consumers of Greece (E.E.K.E) calls all the consumers, its members or not, through its website www.eeke.gr to participate in the electronic referendum for the by law INDEFINITELY and generally protection of their main residence from the auctions that are brought forward by the private creditors (Banks and others) as well as by the Public Institutions and the Pension Funds.
Especially, EEKE proceeds to this specific action because after having daily contact with the borrowers concluded that despite the governmental proclamations about the freezing of the auctions, many citizens have to deal with coercive measures that will make them homeless.
It is known that many citizens in the most sudden way and without warning have to deal with the many budgetary actions and their adverse consequences in all the aspects of their life, such as dramatic shrinkage of their income, absence of corporate finance, absence of market liquidity, loss of important workplace, high unemployment and unprecedented taxation. All these made most of the citizens WITHOUT REASON INDEBTED to the Banks, private creditors, Greek Government and the Pension Funds. Therefore they are left in despair without prospect and hope.
Our Union with its letter rings the alarm for one more time and asks from the government to ensure by law a minimum of social protection for all the factors of the economy and especially the unconditionally and indefinitely protection of the main residence of every citizen from the auctions, included the traders against all the private creditors (Banks and other creditors), the Greek Government and the Pension Funds. In periods of economic recession, which is dealt with measures of internal depreciation and overtaxation that by definition have as a result the without reason indebtedness of the citizens, has to exist the fundamental care for the protection of the main residence from the coercive measures.
The only way out that the citizen has for the protection of his main residence from the coercive measures is for now the Law 3869/2010, which is judicial proceedings, that concerns specific part of the borrowers and not all, while the Government according to its recent announcements prepares regulation for the protection of the main residence from the auctions, which will be TEMPORARY (in force until 31.12.2015). That means that it will not solve the problem definitively prolonging in that way the agony and the uncertainty of the citizens, while it will concern only the debts in banks and not debts in other private creditors, pension funds and the Government.
The participation in the collective effort of the referendum for the protection of the main residence is vital for the reinforcement of our continuous effort to intervene and to ask for its drastic protection in front of the impending vote of the relevant law that does not meet the expectations of the borrowers.
